Laryngospasm - Psychological

I recently had a frightening experience whilst diving which I think was caused by psychological laryngospasm. Could you tell me if there has been any research into why this occurs and how to control it.

DAN Europe normally offers non-emergency medical advice only to its membership as this is a membership benefit. However considering the nature of your problem we will make an exception There is to our knowledge no literature regarding psychological laryngospasm and Diving.
The most common cause of laryngospasm in adults is due to swelling from infection or allergy. Whatever the cause, if the diagnosis is correct, this is a very serious condition and needs urgent medical care.
I recommend that you visit your GP who will investigate the case and not to dive till an explanation is found for what happened to you and it is considered to be an acute, 'once-off' episode.
