DAN Europe and TIDF Announce Agreement on First-Aid Training Programs

Tel Aviv, 11 September 2019 - The Israel Diving Federation (TIDF) joins DAN Europe, the industry’s largest dive safety association, to extend the reach of dive safety programs in Israel.

TIDF recognises the role DAN Europe has been playing in educating better and more aware divers in the past 40 years, and will therefore adopt the standards and procedures of DAN First Aid Training programs.

The signed agreement regards a suite of DAN courses, including DAN Basic Life Support & Defibrillator (BLSD)DAN Oxygen First Aid and DAN First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries (HMLI).

The new training programs will be proposed to TIDF divers and members, after an initial training that will involve Instructors and Instructor Trainers. In the coming months courses will also be provided in Hebrew language, to better meet the needs of a growing community.

"We keep on searching for further ways to spread safety-focused programs and education in our region" explains Dr. Chiara Ferri, DAN Europe Training Medical Supervisor and Assistant Medical Director. "We are very happy to see how TIDF shares our vision and purposes in this regard, and intends to disseminate these training programs in Israel".

About TIDF

The Israeli Diving Federation(Hebrew: ההתאחדות הישראלית לצלילה, Hitahdut Haisraelit Letslila‎) or TIDF is a non-governmental SCUBA diving training organization based in Israel. TIDF was founded in 1966 by ex-Navydiving instructors and members of an underwater archaeological society. In the 1970s the federation began certifying dive instructors in the wake of numerous diving accidents, especially in Sinai peninsula, which at that time was under Israeli control. In 1979, Knesset passed the Recreational Diving Law (Heb:חוק הצלילה הספורטיבית), which regulates training, certification and practice of diving in Israel. The federation was its enforcing body until 1997. TIDF obtained CEN certification from the EUF certification body in 2012, and currently offers underwater sports - Apnoea, Aquathlon (also known as underwater wrestling) and Sport Diving education.
