3 - I have just renewed my membership, what will I receive? (TOP)
In just a few days following payment, at the address you gave us, you will receive your DAN card where you can find the numbers to call in case of emergency.
Always carry your DAN card with you! It's the size of a credit card and fits comfortably in your wallet. Do not forget that it can also be useful in case of a non diving emergency!

7 - I have renewed my insurance plan even though my old plan has not expired yet; why can't I find anything in MY DAN area?

The insurance functions of the MY DAN section are activated only on the effective date of your new insurance coverage. Therefore, until your new policy becomes effective, you cannot enter the names of your students, manage the list of your staff in case of club memberships or download the insurance certificate files and the general policy terms.
8 - The DAN Europe corporate image has changed. What advantage and additional benefits will I have? (TOP)
The website is now brand new and improved. In your ”My DAN” area you will find information about your personal membership and benefits. You are able to view and print your policy schedule and the insurance terms and conditions at any time. Imagine, if you have to prove that you have a valid diving insurance cover, you simply access your ”My DAN” section online anywhere in the world and view and print your details as needed. You find a vast range of information about DAN Europe, membership, insurance, medicine, research, training, partner program, events, news, DAN TV, DAN shop and a lot more.
9 - Why do prices change according to the country? (TOP)
Membership fees are the same for all countries. However, national taxes depend on the member's country of residence and have to be paid on the insurance premium and according to the national tax rate.
Professional divers
1 - I am an instructor/assistant instructor/divemaster PADI Europe. What type of insurance plan is most suitable for me? Where can I find information on the supplement to increase my liability coverage? (TOP)
Starting this year the supplement is no longer required to extend the liability indemnity limits. If you are an instructor/assistant instructor/divemaster PADI Europe and PADI UK, choose one of our insurance plans Pro Bronze Deluxe, Pro Silver Deluxe or Pro Gold. In all three cases, the liability coverage is € 3.500.000, as required by your training agency.
2 - I am an instructor/assistant instructor/dive guide. Do you inform my training agency directly about my DAN membership? (TOP)
Yes, only if you request so. On the register/renew form you will find a blank space to fill in. Please remember that DAN offers only a notification service and this does not replace the instructor's obligation to fulfill the contractual duties signed for at the time of certification.
3 - Is it true that being a dive instructor with a DAN Pro membership plan my students are automatically insured? Do I have to insure them separately with a Dive Student membership? (TOP)
Our professional plans include a diving accident insurance for a limited number of students (depending on the level Bronze, Silver or Gold) with an annual aggregate cover limit of €15.000. The professional member has to register his students individually on the DAN website in his “My DAN” area. When free covers expire you may purchase separate individual covers for your dive students.

8 - I am a professional diver and work/live abroad.
Is there any limitation concerning my non-diving and travel coverages? (TOP)
The DAN Europe insurance coverages have a validity of 12 months. Coverage for diving emergencies has no other time limitations: dive anywhere in the world, anytime, and enjoy peace of mind with DAN!
Just bear in mind, however, that for the non-diving cover there is a maximum number of insured travelling days, starting when you leave your home country:
Hence, if you work abroad for long periods, we strongly recommend you that you upgrade to the PRO Gold membership and check the benefits of your primary non-diving and travel cover with your health insurance provider.
9 - Is my DAN Europe subscription valid in the USA and Canada? (TOP)
Yes, the subscription to DAN Europe and the related medical coverage is valid worldwide including the USA and Canada. In the specific case of the Third Party Liability and Legal Expenses policy for professional divers, the coverage applies only if you are sued in a court or according to the laws of Countries within the DAN Europe territory. The insurance companies of DAN Europe are not authorized to offer liability coverage to residents or companies registered in the territories of USA and/or Canada.

1 - Where can I find the insurance terms and conditions? (TOP)
Insurance policies are available for download on the insurance pages of our website and on the MyDAN section.
2 - Am I insured for loss or theft of my dive equipment while travelling and at the holiday destination? (TOP)
No. However, most of our plans cover loss or damage of own or rescuers' diving equipment in the event of a diving emergency.
3 - What kind of non-diving travel insurance coverage do I get as a DAN member? (TOP)
All our insurance plans have non-diving related medical emergency and travel assistance covers. View details here.
4 - What are the conditions for the new Family Plans? (TOP)
The Family plan includes you and your married or common-law partner and up to two children. They must live at the same residence and be under 25 years old.
5 - Do the new insurance policies have provisions for depth limitations? (TOP)
The Sport Bronze plan has a depth limitation of 40 meter maximum for compressed air and nitrox . Other plans do not have any depth limitation.
6 - What does Recreational Diving stand for? (TOP)
Recreational Diving means all snorkelling, and recreational Diving Activities carried out by the Insured, with or without breathing apparatus, whether as a student or not, including:
• Compressed air diving in any form
• Enriched air “Nitrox” diving with fixed percentages with an open circuit or a “rebreather”
• The use of oxygen enriched air or of oxygen to maximize decompression safety
• The use of normoxic “Trimix” mixtures at depths less than 50m to minimize the narcotic effects of compressed air.
7 - What does Technical Diving stand for? (TOP)
Technical Diving means dives conducted with the use of variable gas mixtures (Nitrogen-Helium-Oxygen otherwise called Trimix or Helium – Oxygen otherwise called Heliox) up to depths not exceeding 130 meters. Technical Diving is carried out using medically recommended gas partial pressures of 1,4 ATA Oxygen or up to a maximum of 1,6ATA Oxygen and 3,95ATA Nitrogen in the breathing mixture. On written submission of a full dive profile and proposed safety and support measures insurers may consider providing specific per dive insurance for any dive exceeding 130 meters.
8 - Will DAN Europe apply any health related cover exclusions if there is a pre-existing medical condition? Do I need to submit a fit-to-dive certificate? (TOP)
Like in any other insurance coverage, pre-existing medical conditions are always excluded unless accepted by the insurer. You can submit a medical referral to medicalreferrals@deib.eu
9 - Is there an age limit to become a DAN Member? (TOP)
No, however for divers older than 75 we require a FTD (Fit To Dive) certificate. You can send it to medicalreferrals@deib.eu
10 - Can I cancel the insurance contract if I am not satisfied with it? (TOP)
If having purchased this insurance you decide that it does not meet your requirements please return this policy within 14 days from the Date of Issue. Provided that no claim has been made and you have not travelled and/or dived the premium will be fully refunded.
11 - Is my DAN Europe subscription valid in the USA and Canada? (TOP)
