Last October, DAN organised the first Instructor Trainer Workshop (ITW) exclusively designed for the ProTec, an international federation member of CMAS. After four intense training days, all eight ProTec students successfully completed the ITW. Niko Dehne (CEO ProTec International) explained the reasons behind the cooperation: In the diving industry, DAN is highly recognised on an international level as the leader when it comes to all aspects of diving safety. For ProTec, diving safety is of paramount importance. Thus, a closer cooperation with DAN was a logical step.
The newly trained DAN Trainers are now able to independently offer DAN courses. Among other things, they were trained in primary (BLS) and secondary care (for adults and children), on the use of various emergency oxygen systems, first aid in the event of marine life injuries, as well as in carrying out important neuro assessments in case of a suspect diving accident.
The ITW was enriched by presentations on various aspects of dive medicine, and information about DAN safety campaigns and the DAN partner programme.
DAN (Divers Alert Network) Europe is a not-for-profit international organisation, founded in 1983, and dedicated to the health and safety of the global diving community. DAN manages an international network of alarm centres, active 24 hours a day, guaranteeing, in the event of an emergency, specialized assistance, to any diver, anywhere in the world. DAN also provides diving medical advice, carries out research into diving safety, organizes courses and seminars with the aim of increasing the knowledge and sense of responsibility of recreational divers and provides financial and technical assistance to hyperbaric treatment centres in developing countries.
