Malta, 25 May 2016 - The SFRIX collective, led by passionate tech diver and DAN Europe Member Giulio Venditti, explored the depths of the Maltese archipelago to find out more about its hidden treasures and wrecks.
Their mission was to explore the wrecks lying on the sea bottom and to conduct studies and analysis on both recognized and unknown wrecks. Through dives at different depths and echo sounder recognitions, SFRIX traced the origin of many shipwrecks to historically locate them during the Second World War, when Malta was one of the strategic traffic points for both the aerial and naval routes in the Mediterranean.
"We had to focus on essential dive planning, considering the unexplored sites, the significant depths and the equipment used", said underwater explorer Giulio Venditti.
The project has been documented with photos and a stunning Video shot by professional diving operators.
DAN Research followed the project and conducted at the same time important scientific tests, to better understand the human response to the underwater world and further its mission to improve dive safety.
